Teaching your kids to swim is one of the greatest lessons you can give them, especially living in Australia.
“At Splash, we believe that an early introduction to the water is a tremendous benefit in building strength and mobility and of course affinity with the water” explained Louise from Slash Leisure Learn to Swim.
Founded in 1994, by Olympian Mark Stockwell; Splash Leisure was created to meet the growing demands of the aquatics, leisure, and fitness industry.
Since then, Splash Leisure has developed and operated some of the most recognisable aquatic, fitness, and leisure centres in Brisbane; including Centenary Aquatic Centre, Acacia Ridge Aquatic Leisure Centre and the Springwood Aquatic Centre, just to name a few.
In September 2020, Olympians Mark and Tracy opened Splash Leisure “Learn to Swim’ in Flagstone.
Featuring a brand new indoor, 25 metre pool that is heated to a comfortable 32 degrees all year round, ensuring balmy and pleasant conditions for all our participants and spectators no matter the weather.
The couple believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn to swim and have access to great facilities. For them it’s about providing a convenient and affordable service to parents.
Splash Leisure Learn to Swim is conveniently located near the Woolworths and surrounding shops. Giving parents the opportunity to do the shopping or get food after lessons.
“We’re all about water safety – making sure that everybody; both adults and children, feel safe in the water.” commented Louise, “As a swimmer myself, I am passionate about teaching people to swim. I believe it’s never too late to learn to swim, that is why also we offer adult classes”.
However, no one knows swimming like Tracy. Each Splash ‘learn to swim curriculum’ is endorsed and created by her, ensuring every child receives the highest quality of education in the pool.
“Tracy is the heart behind Splash” stated Louise, “She created the entire curriculum. Designing lesson plans that are easy for our swim instructors to follow and carry out”.
As a US Olympic and World Championship gold medallist, Tracy has won more US National Swimming Titles than any other female swimmer in history!
In 1991, Tracy moved to Australia from Nashville, Tennessee after her marriage to Australian Olympic medallist, Mark Stockwell. Until 1995, Tracy worked at the Queensland Academy of Sport before going on to assist in the establishment and operation of several family businesses including Splash Leisure.
Tracy was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2008, for service to sport as an administrator and proponent of sporting opportunities for women.
