Message From Our Mayor, Darren Power

Its wonderful to see City of Logan residents out and about
enjoying all that our wonderful city has to offer.

While COVID-19 restrictions have eased, we are still
being urged to be vigilant and to maintain hygiene and
physical distancing measures. That’s a good call by the State
Government. We have seen how quickly things can turn with
this pandemic.

Council is proudly supporting a number of COVID safe events
over the month of May. We have our incredibly popular Logan
Eco Action Festival (LEAF), held annually in celebration of
World Environment Day. LEAF is designed to inspire
attendees to reduce their ecological footprint.

Around 10,000 people attend each year with a growing
number of local businesses taking part. I encourage
you to get along to the Griffith University Campus,
Meadowbrook on 23 May and learn how we can all
live a little more sustainably.

Also in May we will celebrate the city’s best
volunteers with the Logan Loves Volunteers
Breakfast. Held on May 15, the event recognises
the wonderful work by those who continue to put
our community’s needs before their own. I look
forward to honouring these special people.

As well as scheduled events, I encourage you all
to ‘Think Local, Buy Logan’. It’s never been more
important to support the everyday services local
businesses provide.

Take care of each other and I hope to see you at a
social event in Logan soon.
