Busting the Myth of Trust

Real Estate agents should be professional salespeople who serve a valuable and useful function to the public. They work long hours in an extremely fast-paced, stress-filled and pressured environment, and even when they do an excellent job, they tend to have more disappointed customers than most industries, as reported in recent surveys of ‘Most Trusted Professions’ where the Real Estate Agents rated in the bottom three!

And when we floated the idea of featuring a local agent on the cover, responses were mixed and some even going to the extent of saying, “Do you want to ruin the reputation of Logan City guide?

The issue of reputation is complicated. Many use the term ‘necessary evil’ when describing real estate agents. Okay, it is possible for you to market and sell your house yourself, but it’s not an easy job. So, think about it this way: for every successful purchaser and new tenant, there will be a number of unhappy people who have missed out.

Unfavourable reputation is also down to the bad agents who are letting the whole profession down as many do without any experience or the knowledge of the industry.

Our recent discussions with Logan locals identified that people disliked the over-salesy and aggressive approach which characterises certain agents, and instead favoured open communication and reliability.

It seems then, that the only way of changing perception is by being honest, approachable and upfront, offering differentiated services that clients simply don’t expect from an agent.

There are a lot of great estate agents here in Logan City, and it’s time to recognise that a good agent makes a valid contribution to the housing market.

Danika and Jobe from PRD Shailer Park are an excellent example of the quality of real estate agents found in Logan. Read what they had to say when they caught up with the team from Logan City Guide to discover what they love about the Logan community.

We both grew up in country NSW (Tamworth) and have been a part of the Logan Community for 12 years now, moving to Daisy Hill.

What made you move to this part of Logan City?

We have a lot of family throughout the area, from Cornubia up to Rochedale and they all gave us a great insight into the wonderful attributes of Logan city. Since moving to the area over a decade ago we have made many wonderful friendships that we cherish and we are so thankful that we chose this community to be a part of.
